In my work as a teacher, this year was very interesting and different from the previous. I had before me the possibility to start working in public secondary education after some years spent teaching in private institutes. Since the beginning was a new challenge in some areas, such as larger groups to carry out what he was accustomed to carry out well-coordinated programs, comply with all facilities, travel, adjust schedules and everything around it could happen .
Anyway, now reaching the end of the year at all sites, look back and do a pre-balance, I forward some very positive results. Many challenges were not so easy to meet and round, but when itrefers to work with the guys, I'm very happy for many reasons:
- I had the opportunity to meet new students and the privilege of sharing information that would be useful.
- internalized in the operation of new centers, and work hand in hand with teachers who did not know, which was a pleasure. Discover
- creative streak in many of the students, and help the rest find it in the classroom.
am excited to go down the street or get on the bus and cross paths with the boys, exchanging greetings, be open to your questions and comments. I think that when students approach us out of class, and out from the school, is a symptompositive, and shows at least some one does work moderately well. Not only provide academic and curriculum, but also values, advice, support and example for other purposes. All this fills me with positive balance. I receive many emails from some of my students, and also comments on some jobs they do, I do trust that conclusion.
other hand, I have to forget the negative side of the balance (never perfect). There is inevitably a certain number of shortcomings that are sometimes difficult to address. In some groups could meet students with critical issues that hurt them to work. The two most difficult problems for me were those related tothe little or no family support, and the influence of environments where the drug causes damage. Some (many actually) students have severe emotional deprivation, do not get emotional support study by their parents. This problem is an impressive braking performance. Some guys call attention to the cries, as a way to get that affection they need. The rebelliousness and lack of interest that sometimes this causes makes it somewhat difficult teaching in mixed groups.
Regarding the second problem, I can not say when a student is directly related to circles where the drug is present. But some suspect left attitudes. Apathy, depression, indifference, violence, frequent health problems that makehave to withdraw from class, and more. Also note that in some cases domestic violence is still present (either physical or verbal). Since the study centers is not too much that is done, but I tried to give appropriate support to give them a place to be comfortable, and be open to their needs, although it is difficult to achieve in school.
Also, I closed the year with nice balance, and things to improve in the coming years. I hope this year's experiences motivate a large group of students see their education with positive outlook, and that at least offered a firm foothold in future experiences.
